About Six Row

Press Release

Six Row Brewing Company, the new craft brewery and tasting pub located at the corner of Forest Park Blvd. and Spring St. in St. Louis City’s Midtown area, opened for business on Saturday, December 5th. The microbrewery will offer a variety of craft beers brewed in-house at their historic Old Plant No. 1 Pub at 3690 Forest Park Avenue.

“This building is a perfect place to brew craft beers,” said Six Row President Mike Rami. “It was built in 1911 and became the old Falstaff Corp.’s first brewery complex in St. Louis in 1922. Today, it’s a designated historic site, and we’ve refurbished it to reflect its historical charm. We intend to rekindle the building’s proud tradition and take craft beer brewing into new and exciting directions.”

Six Row will serve four to eight quality ales and lagers, which will vary seasonally. The craft beers will be available by the drink on draught and for carryout in growlers. In addition, Six Row will sell wine by the glass and will offer several “guest taps”, showcasing beer from other craft breweries across the country. Six Row also intends to distribute its beer to local retailers, including bars, restaurants, grocers and other businesses who carry beer products.

“Brewing craft beers is a passion for us,” said Evan Hiatt, brewmaster who will manage the microbrewery’s on-site day-to-day operations. “One of our partners, Jason Henry has been brewing craft beers as a serious hobby for 15 years, and now we’re going to expand on his experience and expertise. For my part, before coming to Six Row I too was a home brewer and worked at several Missouri wineries, where I learned many of the nuances of fermentation and beverage production while interning for the third largest winery in the state, Les Bourgeois Vineyards in Rocheport, Missouri and managing River Ridge Winery in Commerce, Missouri.”

“While six row barley malt is one of the types of malts we use to brew our craft beers, for our team the name “Six Row” carries a deeper meaning,” said Jason Henry. “It represents what six guys with a variety of backgrounds can accomplish when they share a common vision and pull together to reach that goal.”

Other members of the Six Row partnership include Doug Rendleman, Rob Holton and Dean Bordeaux.

“Except for Evan, the brewery is a sidelight for each of us,” said Rendleman, who owns a local construction firm. “Rob is a commercial real estate developer, who also owns the building. Mike is a banker. Jason is an engineer, and Dean is a computer sales manager with a strong knowledge of product marketing. Each of us brings something useful and essential to the table. We’ve blended our talents to come up with something special. It’s very much like blending the best ingredients to produce high quality craft beers.”

Six Row will be open Monday through Saturday. Because its primary focus is producing quality beers, Six Row will only serve light bar snacks and food, including such items as pizza, soft pretzels, peanuts, cheese and crackers, and popcorn.

“Six Row is the kind of relaxed, old school place where you can kick back, drink good beer, watch sports, or just visit and listen to good music,” Bordeaux added. “The beer and the atmosphere have been hand crafted by beer lovers for beer lovers.”
